United Kingdom – Weather experts have said that the freezing, snowy conditions are likely to remain until after the weekend.

Many parts of Europe are suffering from blizzard conditions and heavy snowfall that even just getting about has been made a difficult task. England is continuing to suffer what has spread across almost the entire continent.

“Heavy snow showers will affect northeast England and eastern parts of Scotland as a snow system comes in off the North Sea,” said Tony Burgess who is a Special Forecaster for the Met Office. “There is another risk of [heavy snow] across England and south Wales on Monday,” added the forecaster.

The extreme and rare sub-zero temperatures has caught millions of people off-guard in many European countries, which has caused a great deal of travel chaos. The snow and ice has led to two of the largest airports in England stopping flights, as teams race to clear the tarmac runways of hazardous conditions. Both Gatwick and Heathrow are due to re-open soon.

Similar conditions were being witnessed in Holland’s Schiphol airport. A spokeswoman for the airport said, “We are expecting more delays due to weather conditions. The most delays and cancellations are expected to affect air traffic in Europe.
